HistoryOur company was established as Onitsuka Co., Ltd. on September 1, 1949, and on July 5, 1958, it was merged with its manufacturing subsidiary, Onitsuka Co., Ltd., as the nominal surviving company, along with its sales subsidiary, Tokyo Onitsuka Co., Ltd.

Subsequently, on June 1, 1963, Onitsuka Co., Ltd. merged with Chuo Sangyo Co., Ltd. (established on May 27, 1943, and changed its name to Onitsuka Co., Ltd. on June 1, 1963), which was inactive at the time, as the surviving company, in order to change the par value of its shares from 500 yen to 50 yen.

Furthermore, after changing its name, Onitsuka Co., Ltd. changed its name to ASICS Corporation on July 21, 1977, and merged with GTO Corporation, a sportswear and equipment manufacturer, and Jelenk Co., Ltd., also a sportswear manufacturer, to become a comprehensive sporting goods manufacturer, a position it continues to hold today.
